photographs you will take in Portugal
Not because Portugal isn't beautiful. Because you photographed it at eleven in the morning, when the sun is directly overhead and every face turns into a shadow. Because you stood where the tour buses stop. And because the only person who could photograph both of you was a stranger holding your phone sideways.
Ten years from now, the trip will be exactly as vivid as the pictures that survived it.
Three decisions are made before you arrive, and they are the reason our photographs don't look like the ones on your phone. None of them are about the camera.
Lisbon and Porto are built from limestone, tile and painted plaster — flat and grey under a high sun, gold the second the light comes in sideways. That happens about forty minutes after sunrise and forty before sunset. We only book inside those windows.
A session isn't a location, it's a sequence. We walk a route we've scouted for years — a tiled alley, a staircase with the river behind it, a viewpoint that empties exactly when we arrive. You barely walk, and the gallery looks like three days in three neighbourhoods.
"Pose" is what makes people freeze. Instead you get small, easy instructions — walk to the end and come back talking, tell him what you ate yesterday. The expression that lands is real, because something real caused it.
Every frame below was made inside one of the two windows. Nothing here was shot at midday.
Almost everyone I photograph says the same sentence in the first two minutes: "we're really bad at this." They've never been in front of a professional camera and they're worried they'll look stiff, or silly, or like they're trying too hard.
So over the years the work stopped being about photography technique and became something quieter — how to direct people so gently that they forget they're being directed. That's the actual craft. The camera part is easy.
Today I lead a small team who work the same way: Bárbara in Lisbon, Rodrigo in Porto, and me. Three people, two cities, one standard. We are not a marketplace and we don't hand your session to whoever happens to be free.

Once your date is held we agree the route, the meeting point and the exact hour, and send outfit guidance — which colours hold up in Portuguese light and which disappear against the tiles.
You meet your photographer, you walk, and you're given things to do rather than poses to hold. Most people relax inside ten minutes. Proposals are handled discreetly until the moment happens.
Every delivered image is edited by hand — colour, light, skin, the lot. They arrive in a private online gallery at full resolution, no watermark, yours to print and share forever.
"He knows many enchanting places, and effortlessly guided us into natural and flattering poses. Needless to say, the photos turned out AMAZING."Couple session · Lisbon
"Celebrating 11 years together in a city as beautiful as Lisbon was already a dream. Crossing paths with Eduardo was the perfect cherry on top."Anniversary session · Lisbon
"Eduardo is an excellent and very attentive photographer. I recommend anyone visiting Portugal book a session with him and his team."Travel session · Portugal
Everybody says this, and it has never once been a problem. You're not asked to pose or to know what to do with your hands — you're given something small and easy to do, and the photograph happens while you do it.
Portugal is beautiful under cloud — the light softens and the photos get more romantic, not worse. If conditions are genuinely bad we move to covered locations or reschedule at no cost. We decide together the evening before.
That's the normal case, not the exception. A session takes 30 to 90 minutes and slots into a morning or evening you were going to spend walking around anyway. Tell us your dates and we'll tell you which day has the best light.
Yes, and we do it often. We arrive early, position ourselves as one more tourist with a camera, and photograph the whole thing from a distance. After the yes we step in and continue as a normal session.
In a private online gallery within a few days of the session. Each image is selected and edited by hand, at full resolution and watermark-free.
Lisbon and Porto, plus the surrounding areas — Sintra, Cascais, Belém, the Douro. If you have somewhere else in Portugal in mind, ask and we'll tell you whether we can get there.
Reserving a date is a secure card payment through Stripe — we never see or store your card details. Once it's through we contact you to plan the session and confirm every detail.
Ask us anything first — availability, locations, whether your dates work. No commitment, and we usually reply the same day.
One session per photographer per light window. Three photographers, two cities. Spring and summer fill first — if your trip falls in that window, book as early as you can.
